Harry Gwala once again demonstrated the strength of their netball development programme by claiming the 2026 Telkom Netball Championships U19A tittle after defeating Tshwane A 36-29 in a thrilling matchup final at Hoerskool Dr. E.G. Jansen on Friday.

The championship is a testament to the district's commitment to developing young talent and creating pathways for players to excel at the highest level. Behind this success are dedicated coaches and mentors who continue to invest in grassroots development. Special recognition goes to Berbeto Mnikathi and Nhlanhla Vaphi whose outstanding work at Shayamoya Secondary School has played a vital role in identifying and nurturing talented athletes. Their efforts begin long before TNC and Super League, laying the foundation that continues to produce quality players such as Refiloe Nketsa, Mbali Diphoko to name more recent players who are now international players from Harry Gwala and KwaZulu-Natal.

Harry Gwala dominance at the tournament was further highlighted through two major individual accolades. Mbali Diphoko was named Best Shooter while Sinegugu Gamede earned the prestigious Player of the Tournament award after her consistently delivering exceptional performances throughout the competition. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication of the players, coaches , management and everyone who continues to contribute to the growth of netball in the district.
