The 2025 Telkom Netball League season officially burst into life with an all-KZN Derby at the iconic Superbowl in Sun City on Saturday evening, where the Kingdom Queens overcame a slow start to claim a thrilling 47-36 victory over the Kingdom Stars.
Broadcast live on Supersport Variety 4, the clash saw both KZN sides opening their campaigns against each other, setting the tone for an exciting season ahead. The Kingdom Stars, fresh from winning Division II, started strong, taking the early lead and putting pressure on their provincial rivals.
However, the Kingdom Queens showed their composure, staging a determined comeback to stun the Stars and take control of the match in the later quarters. With relentless attacking play and solid teamwork, the Queens powered their way to a memorable win.
Thobekile Mjaja was a standout performer for the Kingdom Queens, commanding the attack with flair and precision. Her outstanding performance earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match accolade.
