In a heartfelt show of pride, hope, and unwavering provincial spirit, KwaZulu-Natal’s elite netball teams – the Kingdom Stars and Kingdom Queens – were officially unveiled and given a celebratory send-off ahead of their campaign at the highly anticipated 2025 Telkom Netball League, which begins tomorrow at Sun City’s iconic SuperBowl and SunPark.
The Prime Human Performance Institute, Moses Mabhida Stadium , came alive with vibrant colours and infectious energy as athletes, coaches, dignitaries, and supporters gathered for the special Team Announcement and Send-Off Ceremony on Friday afternoon.
Gracing the occasion was the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Mntomuhle Khawula, who delivered a stirring address to the athletes. “Today is about shining the light on our talented players,” he said. “Having witnessed their incredible talent during the KZN Premier’s Netball Cup and KZN Netball Super League, I am confident they will represent our province with excellence. Through our Isukile programme, we will continue to unearth and develop netball talent across KwaZulu-Natal.”
MEC Khawula also beamed with pride as he applauded former provincial coach, Precious Mthembu, on her new appointment as Head Coach of the National Under-21 team. “Her journey inspires, and it shows what is possible through dedication and opportunity,” he said.
In a symbolic moment of honour and recognition, MEC Khawula, joined by KZN Sports Confederation President Thami Mchunu, proudly conferred provincial colours upon the players – a defining milestone in the careers of these young netball stars.
Adding to the excitement, JOMA – a globally renowned sportswear brand – was announced as the official kit sponsor for both the Kingdom Stars and Kingdom Queens. JOMA’s vibrant kits will not only amplify the team’s identity on the national stage but also reflect the bold and dynamic energy the players are ready to bring to the court.

On the other side, the Queens will bring their experience and composure to the court, spearheaded by the ever-reliable Sinamile Mthembu, a familiar face in the TNL arena.
