In a resounding display of resilience and class, Kingdom Stars have officially punched their ticket to Telkom Netball League Division 1 for the 2026 season — completing a poetic redemption arc one year in the making.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants stormed to a 60-42 victory over Limpopo Baobabs in a high-stakes promotion/relegation clash, rewriting last season’s heartbreak with a fearless and fiery performance.

The match began with the Baobabs asserting early dominance. Led by their towering Goal Shooter Muhluri Hlatshwayo, the Limpopo side edged ahead with a 14-10 lead after the first quarter. But Kingdom Stars, fueled by a burning desire for redemption, had other plans.

With the sharp shooting of Sbonga Mdletshe under the post and airtight defense across the court, the Stars turned the tide dramatically in the second quarter, racing into a 25-20 lead at halftime. Their transformation was fueled by composure, speed, and sheer determination.

By the third quarter, the scoreboard read 48-29, and there was no looking back. Captain Nompumelelo Mthembu’s squad continued to press with relentless intensity, leaving the Baobabs scrambling and unable to regain momentum.

Fresh off a confident semi-final win against the Tornados, Kingdom Stars brought that same energy and precision into this showdown — and it paid off in spectacular fashion. The final whistle confirmed what fans in the arena already knew: the Stars were shining brighter than ever.

This victory not only secured the Stars' return to the top division but also cemented their place as one of the most dangerous and determined squads in the league. For the Baobabs, the defeat marks a tough end to their Division 1 run, as they now prepare to compete in Division 2 next season.

“This was personal,” said coach Nompumelelo Mthembu post-match. “We came back for what’s ours — and this time, we were ready. We’re proud to take KZN back to the top.”
