KZN Netball President, Mrs Gugu Ngema was a special guest at the Sports Day held at West Park special needs school, in Queensburgh, as part of the Mandela Day Celebration. The Durban African Sports Club In partnership with SA Fasteners organised the sports day. The sports day saw two special needs schools,
Westpark and Golden Gateway competing in various sports activities catering for learners between 6-18 years old. Organiser, Maggie Govender from the Durban Africa Sport Club, said “the main aim for today is to create a platform for special needs learners to play sports as they are often forgotten when it come to sports".
The KZN Netball donated sports equipment such as a netball kit and balls. "Sports has the power to unite people in a way that little else does and it speaks to the youth in a language they understand" said, President Gugu Ngema who presented the sports equipment.
The fun filled day provided an excellent platform for KZN Netball in making a meaningful difference in the community on Mandela Day.
