KwaZulu-Natal's rising netball stars are one step closer to the international stage after earning selection for Region 5 U19 Trials. KZN Netball proudly congratulates five talented young athletes who have been selected to attend the Region 5 U19 trials, taking place from 2-4 October 2026.

The selected players are: Siphesihle Magwaza (eThekwini), Mbali Diphoko (Harry Gwala), Esethu Mbhele (Harry Gwala), Sinegugu Gamede (Harry Gwala) and Nonzuzo Thusi (King Cestshwayo). Their selection is a reflection of the talent, commitment and determination that continues to emerge from across KwaZulu-Natal. Each player worked tirelessly to develop their game and has now been rewarded with opportunity to test themselves against some of best talent in the region.

For Sinegugu Gamede, the latest achievements from the Telkom Netball Championship adds another exciting chapter to an already impressive young career, while Mbali Diphoko who joined the Kingdom Stars on debut while she represented the Baby Spar Proteas in the recent World Cup. and Esethu Mbhele will also carry districts hope into the trials. Siphesihle Magwaza will represent eThekwini, while Nonzuzo Thusi will fly the flag for King Cetshwayo.

The Region 5 trials represent an important step on the high-performance pathway, providing the young athletes with opportunity to showcase their abilities, gain valuable experience and compete for further selection.
