Day 2 of the Telkom Netball League brought a rollercoaster of emotions for Kwa-Zulu-Natal fans, with the Kingdom Stars shining brightly while the Kingdom Queens endured a tough outing.
The Kingdom Stars bounced back in spectacular fashion, delivering a commanding 57–23 win over the Northern Cape Diamonds at Sun Park. After a challenging loss on Day 1, the Stars were hungry for redemption—and they delivered in style. From precise attacking plays to unshakable defence, the team looked in control from the first whistle to the last.
Coach Nompumelelo Mthembu couldn't hide her pride in the team’s performance:
“This was a crucial game for the girls to lift their spirits. After yesterday’s loss to the Kingdom Queens, we knew we had to bring more intensity and focus – and the team delivered!”
But while the Stars celebrated, the morning brought disappointment for the Kingdom Queens. Despite claiming the bragging rights in the KZN derby on Day 1, the Queens struggled against a fired-up Tornados outfit, going down 51–23. They’ll be looking to regroup and come back stronger on Day 3.
