KwaZulu-Natal Provincial government ,led by Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal Netball Federation and Umkhanyakude Districst Municipality, has officially unveiled the highly anticipated second edition of the KZN Premier's Netball Cup.
The prestigious tournament will take place from 19-22 February, at Manguzi Multi-Purpose Centre in KwaMhlabayalingana, bringing the four day of elite provincial netball to the far north of the province. The official draw was held on Monday,16 February ,ad Durban's Marine Building led by Premier Ntuli. He was joined by MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture ,Honourable, Mntombuke Khawula, KZN Sport Confederation President ,Thami Mchunu and KZN Netball Federation President Mrs Gugu Ngema.
The launch not only confirmed Umkhanyakude as the proud host district, but also set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling showcase talent, unity, sporting excellence as teams prepare to battle for provincial glory.
Commenting after leading the draw Premier Ntuli said :
"As the Province of KwaZulu-Natal, we are proud to have launched the 2026 KZN Premiers Netball Cup following the successful of hosting the 2025 edition, a flagship tournament that distinguishes our province as the only on in the country to stage an initiative of this nature."
"The Tournament reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing women's sport, promoting grassroots netball development across all districts ,and creating meaningful opportunities for young talent It further demonstrate our capacity to deliver high-impact provincial events through strong leadership, effective collaboration, and sound coordination.
He further beyond competition, the KZN Premiers Netball Cup continue to serve as a platform for empowerment, inclusivity, and social transformation, inspiring new hope and strengthening the communities throughout the province.
Speaking on behalf of KZN Netball, Mr Ngema said the federation is ready to deliver a high-quality tournament that will give players throughout the province an opportunity to showcase their talent.
"We are ready to host this tournament, which is a flagship initiative, and we thank the Premier and MEC Khawula, for their continued this tournament last year. We look forward into an exciting weekend." she said.
MEC Khawula called on communities around UMkhanyakude district to come in numbers to support the tournament, urging federations, local municipalities and all stakeholders to intensify the mobilization and publicity efforts.
The KZN Premier's Netball Cup will feature 12 teams representing all the districts who will be out to battle for the honor of being crowned the provincial champions. The tournament will be played in a round robin format ,two groups with six teams each. The top teams from each group will advance to the knock-out stages leading, to the finals on Sunday the 22nd February 2026.
